Visit to a Russian Ballet School

During their stay in St. Petersburg, Russia, a group of Fall 2014 students had the opportunity to visit a private ballet school in the heart of the city. Unlike attending an evening ballet performance, students were able to watch three young ballet students warm-up and stretch before performing a number of world-renowned ballets, including Swan Lake. Ballet students normally practice 3-4 hours every day.

Cassie Jarvis, a student at University of Colorado Denver, is a former dancer studying on Semester at Sea. Watch and listen as she describes her exclusive visit to the private studio.
