Fall 2024 Voyage Lights Up with New Connections

On the first night of the Fall 2024 Voyage, voyagers gathered in the Anderson Union for an unforgettable experience that set the tone for the adventure ahead. As a video began playing, prompting questions to the audience, new voyagers lit up the room—not just with their cell phone lights, but with their experiences and heartfelt reflections.

The room was alive with excitement and anticipation as the video asked simple yet meaningful questions such as “Who is from a big city? A small town?” and “Is anyone kind of nervous?” Each light symbolized a personal story, a journey yet to unfold, and a sense of unity in the shared experience of discovery, growth, and exploration.

In that moment, it was clear that this was more than just a voyage. It was the beginning of a transformative journey that would challenge, inspire, and connect people from all over the world. Voyagers are not only about to explore new countries and cultures but also embark on a path of self-discovery, guided by their shared experience aboard the ship.

The “Lights Up” experience left a lasting impression on everyone in the room. It was a reminder that while the destinations are extraordinary, it’s the connections we make—both with the world and each other—that truly define the Semester at Sea experience.

Watch the Fall 2024 Lights Up video and witness the moment this new community began their journey together. As the ship sails forward, so do the stories of these bright and eager voyagers, each one lighting up the world on their own “journey of discovery to spark bold solutions to global challenges.”
