Overview of Course
This course provides insight into how business ventures can address the world’s most pressing challenges as identified by the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. These challenges include social issues such as inequity, poverty, and education, as well as environmental issues including pollution, waste, and climate change.
Society now expects that a business has responsibility for their social and environmental impacts. Our course examines how large corporations, small businesses, and entrepreneurial ventures are making progress and shifting global standards for conducting business.
This course is based on the belief that businesses can be powerful agents of social and economic change driving a sustainable economy for all. Through reading, discussion, and experiential learning, students will acquire knowledge and understanding of ventures focused on meeting customer needs while promoting social and environmental sustainability.
