IDEA 210 Introduction to Design Thinking [CRN 76856]
Overview of Course
Design thinking is a creative, flexible process that fosters innovation. Throughout this class, students will work in teams to experience first-hand the five stages of design thinking: Empathy, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test. The course content and projects promote building creative competence, collaboration, and an appreciation for thinking across disciplines to develop a new mindset and skillset that guides innovation. We will explore ideation methods, create prototypes for projects, and develop compelling ideas for meaningful societal and marketplace impact. This voyage sets the stage for exciting opportunities to think outside the box. If that all sounds confusing right now, don't worry! We work through the process step-by-step until you are able to implement the design thinking process yourself.
This course meets CSU’s All-University Core Curriculum (AUCC) requirements for Arts/Humanities (Category 3B) and is approved under Guaranteed Transfer (GT) Pathways in the content area of Arts and Expression (GT-AH1).
