ENGR 342 Fluid Mechanics
Overview of Course
This rigorous upper division fluid mechanics problem-solving course is designed to meet the academic requirements of typical ABET-approved engineering undergraduate programs. We will cover the thermodynamic properties of fluids, control volume and differential analysis, conservation of mass / momentum / and energy, measurements, differential analysis, boundary layer theory, Navier-Stokes equations and exact solutions, internal and external flows including open channel flow, lift and drag, and the application to engineering applications such as pumps, compressors, turbines, and airfoils. Through comparative observations during the voyage, we will study how water is managed in the various countries that we will be visiting, looking at potable water systems, irrigation, stormwater, and wastewater management.
