Spring 2020 Voyage: Mauritius Confirmation

We have been considering two options in regard to our next port: Mauritius or Mozambique. Our Mauritius port agent has now confirmed berth availability for the extended stay in Mauritius, which is great news. We were even able to secure the berth for one more day than originally anticipated. Since we have the added reassurance that we have already disembarked voyagers in Port Louis, we have decided that the voyage will remain in Port Louis from March 3-7. We are optimistic that we will be able to return to Mauritius for this extended port call and then proceed to Cape Town, South Africa and the remaining ports on our itinerary as planned.

See below the updated itinerary and the link to the updated academic calendar:

  • March 1-2: At sea (The ship will be either docked or at anchor nearby. These days will remain on-ship class days for all voyagers.)
  • March 3-7: Port Louis, Mauritius
  • March 8-13: At sea
  • March 14-23: Cape Town, South Africa

Our field team is working hard to reinstate the field programs and field classes, to the extent possible, originally planned for the extended stay in Mauritius. More information about those programs will be communicated to the shipboard community via the on-ship field office team.

Our shipboard community remains healthy, as evidenced by the health screening required of all voyagers upon disembarkation in Port Louis earlier this morning (ship time). All indications from our Cape Town partners on the ground have been extremely positive and given us no cause for concern regarding our stay there.
