Pencils of Promise: An Education for Every Child

Andrew Gray, a junior from Oklahoma State University, has an infectious passion for bettering childhood education throughout the developing world. For the past four years he has been channeling that energy into Pencils of Promise, a for-purpose organization founded by Semester At Sea alum Adam Braun. Founded in 2008, Pencils of Promise(PoP) has built over 150 schools and increased educational opportunities throughout Asia, Africa and Latin America.

Having never seen an actual PoP school being built in the field, Andrew decided to organize a Semester At Sea sponsored field program to visit one while the ship was ported in Ghana. Take a look at this video as Andrew explains his beliefs, and what it meant to him to see a school first hand with 31 of his SAS friends.
